Seven men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man in his 20s was stabbed to death in Southall, west London, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Police were called to North Road at 12.41am following reports of a stabbing, after the London Ambulance Service alerted officers to the incident. On arrival, police and paramedics found two men with injuries. Despite efforts to save him, one of the men — who was in his 20s and had suffered a knife wound — was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to trace his next of kin. The second injured man’s condition has not been disclosed.
Seven men, ranging in age from their early 20s to their late 30s, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. Six remain in police custody. The Metropolitan Police have launched a murder investigation.
The killing is the latest knife death to hit London, a city that has seen persistent levels of serious violence despite repeated government pledges to address the crisis. Southall, in the London Borough of Ealing, has been the scene of violent incidents in the past, and Wednesday’s stabbing will add to pressure on the Metropolitan Police to tackle gang and street violence across the capital.
No further details about the victim or the circumstances of the attack have been released at this stage.
