Dwayne Johnson has joked that becoming an official Disney Legend means his children will now receive free theme park tickets for life, after the Moana star was honoured at the 2026 Disney Legends Awards during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, California.
Dwayne Johnson has joked that his newly awarded Disney Legend status will secure his children lifelong free access to Disney theme parks. The actor was honoured at the 2026 Disney Legends Awards, held as part of D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, California, on 16 August. Johnson was introduced at the ceremony by his Jungle Cruise co-star Emily Blunt, joining a star-studded group of newly named Disney Legends at this year’s event.
A joke that delighted his daughters
Speaking after receiving the honour, Johnson revealed that his children were particularly thrilled by the prospect of free access to Disney parks for life, joking that becoming a Disney Legend came with exactly that perk for his family.
A personal moment with his eldest daughter
Alongside the lighthearted comments about theme park access, Johnson shared a more emotional memory during the ceremony, recalling taking his eldest daughter, Simone, to Disneyland when she was just five years old. He spoke about the lasting impact such family experiences at Disney parks can have, before leading the audience in a rendition of “Happy Birthday” in her honour.
Johnson’s history with Disney
Johnson’s association with Disney centres largely on his voice role as the demigod Maui in the Moana franchise, a character he is set to reprise in the studio’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Moana. The role has become one of the defining parts of his career with the studio, and formed a natural backdrop to his recognition as a Disney Legend at this year’s ceremony.
