Three men have been charged with people smuggling offences after a boat was spotted depositing migrants onto a beach in Holland-on-Sea, near Clacton — the Essex constituency represented by Reform UK leader Nigel Farage.
Polish nationals Konrad Dabrowski, 25, and Damian Ciuron, 41, both from Bradford, were arrested by Essex Police at the shoreline on Wednesday 1 July after officers observed a vessel dropping people off at the beach. Christian Albano, 45, an Italian national, was subsequently detained at sea by the Border Security Command, supported by HM Coastguard, for the same alleged offence.
All three were questioned by the National Crime Agency and charged overnight with facilitation offences under section 25 of the Immigration Act 1971. They have been remanded in custody and are due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court today. A fourth man, a 57-year-old Albanian national, remains in custody following his own arrest on suspicion of facilitation offences. Six people found on board the vessel have been detained for immigration offences and referred to Immigration Enforcement.
Farage reacted with anger to the landing on his own doorstep, telling GB News: “It is outrageous that illegal migrants are landing in broad daylight in the Clacton constituency. Residents will be outraged and deeply worried. Whilst I congratulate the police and NCA for acting quickly, it is vital that these unidentified young males are detained, not free to roam the streets, and deported as soon as possible.” He added a broader warning that “nowhere is safe.”
