A married teacher in Georgia has been charged with sexually abusing six teenage students, with newly filed court documents alleging she was later blackmailed by some students who discovered she ran an OnlyFans account and threatened to expose it unless she gave them higher grades.
Maris Nichols, 25, was arrested in May over allegations relating to her time at Alexander High School in Douglasville, Georgia. According to search warrants seen by Fox News, investigators allege Nichols was filmed engaging in sexual activity with a student while wearing a sweatshirt bearing a religious message. The warrants also allege she sent inappropriate photographs, videos and messages to multiple students, and that several students used knowledge of her OnlyFans account as leverage to demand better grades in her class.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office issued warrants to OnlyFans, Snapchat, AT&T and a number of students and their families as part of the investigation. Investigators also sought access to Nichols’s medical records after learning she had previously received treatment for mental health issues, according to the warrants.
Separate warrants previously reviewed by the Daily Mail allege Nichols had sexual contact with a student in a school closet on 23 April and again in a vehicle off school grounds on 2 May, as well as in the back of a student’s truck at a local golf club on 3 May. The documents allege she sent explicit messages and images to several teenagers, including two under the age of 16, and that she instructed at least one student to delete evidence of their communications and to lie if questioned about the allegations.
Nichols was charged with several offences including multiple counts of child molestation, improper sexual contact by an employee, grooming of a minor for a sexual offence, and tampering with evidence. She was initially released on a $40,000 bond before being taken back into custody on a $74,000 bond following further charges.
The Douglas County School System said it was “deeply troubled” by the allegations and had launched an internal investigation. “Student safety is the district’s highest priority. The alleged behavior is unacceptable and violates the professional standards all employees are required to uphold,” the district said in a statement.
Parents in the community have expressed both shock and frustration. One mother told WSB-TV the allegations were “heartbreaking,” while other parents told 11 Alive they were concerned their children had received minimal instruction in Nichols’s class and worried about the impact on their academic progress. “We’re not asking for special treatment. We are asking for transparency, accountability, and fairness,” one parent said. “Unfortunately, our concerns have repeatedly been met with resistance, limited communication, and a lack of meaningful reassurance that appropriate measures are being taken to protect all children involved, including our own.”
