A married Nashville police officer has resigned from the force after an internal investigation found she filmed herself having sex with a fellow officer inside a Tennessee middle school while children were present in the building. Lisa Vidrios, who was serving as a school resource officer at Madison Middle School, admitted to the affair after her husband, also a Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) officer, discovered video footage on her phone.
The affair came to light in May 2025, when Vidrios’ husband, Angel, also an MNPD officer, found video footage on her phone showing her with her lover during a sexual encounter. According to the filing, first reported by Jerry Barlar, the footage showed the pair together on the couch in her office while children were inside the building, with staff audible talking outside the door at the time. Her phone was also found to contain footage of the pair having oral sex inside a police vehicle parked near an abandoned hospital.
How the affair was uncovered
Angel first grew suspicious after noticing his wife’s location on the family’s Life360 tracking app showed her in what he described as a “random parking lot near Top Golf.” He told investigators that Vidrios had explained she was meeting the SWAT officer for an “unknown reason.” He later reported the matter to the force after discovering a two-month-long WhatsApp thread between his wife and her lover, alongside the video evidence, which together revealed the pair had been meeting up regularly during paid working hours.
Messages reviewed by investigators showed the pair coordinating meetups during shifts, including one occasion when Vidrios’ lover texted that he was “going to sneak away” to see her during a meal break. In a separate incident, the two met in a school parking garage for an hour and a half while he was on duty, exchanging messages that read: “Ok I’m leaving the academy,” followed later by “I’m parked next to you,” to which Vidrios replied: “Unlock your door…I’m putting shorts on.”
Details of the affair
According to investigators, text messages suggest the relationship began around 5 April last year. Vidrios admitted to having sex with her lover inside the school building on at least four occasions, and twice in his car. The Metro Nashville Police Department’s Office of Professional Accountability (OPA) launched its investigation after a complaint was filed on 26 May 2025.
Background of those involved
Vidrios served nine years in the US Marine Corps before joining the police force. She and Angel relocated their family from San Diego to Tennessee in 2022, and went on to become the first married couple to graduate together from the Metro Nashville Police Training Academy, with Vidrios selected to represent their graduating class. Speaking in a 2022 graduation video reported by WKRN, she said: “I came here to Nashville with my family, and my husband included, who is also now a member of the Metro Police Department with me. We have three children together – ages 6, 4, and 1 years old – and we love spending time as a family and doing everything we can throughout the city of Nashville.”
Her lover, who has not been publicly named, had served with the MNPD for 18 years and was most recently assigned to the Tactical Operations Section prior to his removal from duty, according to the OPA report.
Consequences for both officers
Both officers were decommissioned and had their police access revoked on 26 May 2025, once the department learned of the alleged affair. Vidrios entered into a pre-investigative settlement that September, accepting responsibility for violating departmental policy, including conduct unbecoming an employee of the department and failing to devote her full working time to her duties. She agreed to a 30-day suspension, after which she resigned from the force.
Her lover, meanwhile, was on FMLA leave at the time of the investigation and was subsequently granted an injured-on-duty pension in February 2026, meaning investigators were unable to interview him directly. Despite this, OPA investigators said the available evidence provided “overwhelming proof” of his involvement in the affair, and confirmed he would be questioned over the incident should he return to the department in future.
Official response
Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell’s office said first responders are expected to meet the highest professional standards, describing the alleged conduct as unacceptable. Metro Nashville Public Schools said no students or school staff were involved in, or aware of, the alleged incidents when they occurred, and referred further questions to the police department. The matter has been handled as an internal disciplinary issue, and no criminal charges have been announced in connection with the investigation.
