BBC Radio 1 presenter Mollie King has revealed she was rushed to hospital after collapsing unconscious on her bathroom floor in the early hours of the morning, hitting her head and face as she fell — explaining to fans why she had been missing from her show.
The Saturdays singer and radio presenter, 38, shared the details of the terrifying incident in a statement posted to her Instagram grid, thanking fans who had been checking in on her during her absence from the airwaves.
“After coming home late from work, I suddenly collapsed unconscious on the bathroom floor at 4am, hitting my head and face as I fell,” Mollie wrote. “It was a huge shock and I ended up being rushed to A&E.” She praised her husband, former England cricket star Stuart Broad, 39, for his response in the frightening moments after the collapse. “I keep thinking how grateful I am that I wasn’t on my own and had Stuart to bring me round after I fell.” She also paid tribute to medical staff at St George’s Hospital, thanking nurses Amy and Hannah for “stitching me up so well, and even managed to see past the Looney Tunes pyjama top I arrived in — must buy new pyjamas!”
The incident has prompted Mollie to reassess her schedule and pace of life. “It’s been a real wake-up call that I need to make some time to get my strength back, not just for my own health, but so I can be the best version of myself for my family too,” she wrote. She confirmed she would return to presenting her Radio 1 show — which she hosts alongside close friend Matt Edmondson — and shared her first social outing since the collapse on Sunday, posting a photograph showing her with youngest daughter Liliana, aged one, as the toddler pointed to her father Stuart appearing on a screen.
The collapse is the latest in a series of health concerns that have surfaced around the presenter in recent months. In March, The Sun reported that Mollie pulled out of a scheduled Sunday Brunch appearance after injuring her neck — an injury she initially mentioned on 5 Live before discovering it was more serious than anticipated. “I went to see the physio yesterday afternoon and they’ve advised I have to rest,” she wrote at the time. In August 2025, she was also notably absent from Radio 1 following an operation the previous month, the nature of which she chose not to disclose publicly.
