Five men have been convicted after abducting a man from a house in broad daylight, bundling him into the boot of a car, driving him to a storage unit and torturing him while filming the attack — with the victim only escaping by locking himself in a stranger’s car left with the keys inside.
The kidnapping took place at around 2.18pm on 29 December 2025, when four masked men stormed a property in Arleston, Telford, and forced the victim into the boot of a black Audi A4. Witnesses reported the boot remained open during parts of the journey, with the victim’s legs visible. He was taken to a storage unit in Eyton, where he was tied to a chair, beaten and tortured. He was then left locked inside the unit.
The victim managed to escape by finding another car at the scene with the keys in the ignition, locking himself inside and driving to a takeaway in Whitchurch, where he arrived at around 10pm with serious injuries and sought help.
West Mercia Police linked the abandoned Audi to 22-year-old Haider Ali of Montgomery Road, Wellington. A torture video sent to one of the suspects’ phones identified four further men, all from the Arleston area of Telford: Shayyan Hussain, 24, of John Broad Avenue; Jawad Hussain, 20, of Windsor Road; Faheem Chohan, 23, also of Windsor Road; and Ehteshan Hussain, 22, of Princess Avenue. All four pleaded guilty in January 2026. Ali denied involvement and was convicted following a two-week trial at Shrewsbury Crown Court on 16 and 17 June 2026. A sixth man, Shariq Raza, 20, was cleared.
All five convicted men are due to be sentenced at Shrewsbury Crown Court on 22 July. Police described the attack as “shocking and deeply disturbing” and said those responsible had shown a “complete disregard for human life.” Reports suggest the apparent motive related to the victim having spoken to a female relative of one of the attackers.
