Two air ambulances have landed at the scene of a major bus crash in the Welsh coastal town of Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire, with at least 26 people reported injured as emergency services declared a major incident.
The collision involved a public bus on the A484 near the Kidwelly roundabout at Parc y Bocs, according to Britannia Daily. Dyfed-Powys Police closed the road between the roundabout and Llandyfaelog and urged members of the public to stay away from the area and find alternative routes. Flight tracking website Flightradar confirmed that two air ambulances had landed at the scene as the emergency response ramped up.
Britannia Daily cited a source reporting that at least 26 people were injured in the crash. The scale of the response, with multiple air ambulances, significant road closures and a major incident declaration, suggests a significant number of casualties among those on board the bus.
Dyfed-Powys Police said in a statement that they were dealing with a major incident following the collision, with emergency services on scene. Traffic monitoring systems were already reporting long delays in the area.
Public told ‘stay away’
Police have said members of the public should stay away from the area until further notice.
This is a developing story.
