Three men have been charged with the murder of an 18-year-old who was allegedly stabbed on a residential street before being bundled into a car and driven to a hospital where he was left outside to die, as tributes pour in describing him as a devoted son and brother.
Kyeron Wheeler was found outside Poole Hospital in Dorset at 2.13am on Friday, having apparently been driven approximately a mile from where he was attacked. He died shortly after being found. Three men — Dluwadamilare Aremu, 22, a Nigerian national, Trevor Gonzo, 22, and Callum Roberts, 20 — have been charged with murder and are due to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court today.
All three have also been charged with possession of a knife blade or sharp pointed article in a public place, acquiring, using or possessing criminal property, and two counts of possession with intent to supply a Class A controlled drug. Roberts faces an additional charge of possession of a knife blade or sharp pointed article in a public place.
Detective Superintendent Neil Third, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “This has been a complex and fast-moving investigation as we have worked diligently to piece together the circumstances surrounding this incident. After extensive enquiries, we have consulted with the Crown Prosecution Service and it has authorised charges of murder against three suspects.” He urged the public to refrain from speculation online and said officers would maintain an increased presence in the affected areas.
Tributes to Kyeron have poured in from those who knew him. A GoFundMe fundraiser set up by family friend Katie Balmer described him as a “good lad” with an extraordinary bond with his mother and siblings. “His love for his siblings was unreal, absolutely unreal,” Balmer told the Dorset Echo. “Him and his mum just had an amazing relationship. They were just like best friends.” The fundraiser’s description read: “No mother should have to bury their son and in such tragic circumstances. Kyeron had his whole life ahead of him. He may be 18, so in the eyes of the law, he’s an adult, but he’s still someone’s child.”
