Heidi Klum has spoken out against raw food diets and heavy supplement use, urging people to embrace a more natural approach to wellness, while defending individual choice on cosmetic treatments and weight-loss drugs like Ozempic in a new interview with Us Weekly.
Heidi Klum, 53, has criticised two wellness trends popular among biohackers, telling Us Weekly she believes people should focus on natural approaches to health rather than raw food diets or heavy supplement regimes. The former Victoria’s Secret Angel explained that combining poor eating habits with large amounts of supplements struck her as counterproductive. “To me, it doesn’t make sense to eat badly and then shove 50 pills inside of you,” she said. “To me, this doesn’t make sense. I think that’s important, bringing it back to the basics and trying to be as natural with everything as you possibly can, I think is the way to go.”
Why Klum Avoids Raw Food
Klum said she generally steers clear of raw foods, arguing they place greater strain on digestion. “If you want to have fruit, blanch them in the frying pan with a bit of water,” she suggested, adding practical advice for those looking to ease digestion further: “Chew enough and don’t drink too many fluids while you eat because the stomach acids can’t break it all down.” She said she prefers to draw most of her nutrients from whole foods rather than relying on supplements, arguing that a balanced diet offers more benefit than taking numerous pills each day.
A Non-Judgmental Stance on Ozempic and Cosmetic Surgery
Despite her preference for natural approaches, Klum was careful to draw a distinction between her personal habits and how others choose to manage their own health and appearance. Speaking about Ozempic and similar weight-loss medications, she said: “In general, people should do what they want. It’s the same with Ozempic. A lot of people have a hard time getting that jumpstart, and if you’ve always struggled with your weight and for 40 years you’ve been trapped and it’s been such a big focus of your life, then maybe this is a great thing to try. That has never been part of my life, so it’s hard for me to judge.” She extended the same reasoning to cosmetic procedures more broadly, adding: “If you look in the mirror and you’re not happy with something and you want to fix it, fix it.” Klum confirmed she has never personally used Ozempic or comparable weight-loss drugs, though she said she understands why others might turn to them after years of struggling with their weight.
Cooking as Part of Her Routine
Elsewhere in the interview, Klum spoke about her enjoyment of cooking and preparing fresh meals for herself and her family. Describing her approach to food alongside her 22-year-old daughter Leni, whom she shares with ex-partner Flavio Briatore, she said: “We don’t love everything overcooked and fried and dead and killed.” Klum also shares three other children, sons Henry, 20, and Johan, 19, and daughter Lou, 16, with her ex-husband Seal.
A Shift From Last Year’s Comments on Botox
Klum’s remarks come roughly a year after she told People magazine she was supportive of others using Botox, despite maintaining she has never had the treatment herself. “I’m all for Botox,” she said at the time. Her latest comments suggest a consistent underlying philosophy rather than a contradiction: while she personally favours a natural, moderate approach to wellness, centred on eating well, staying active and avoiding extremes rather than chasing the latest health trends, she has continued to stress that decisions about cosmetic treatments and weight-loss medication should remain a matter of individual choice, free from judgment.
