A contractor working at Network Rail stations has sparked an investigation after posting a TikTok guide ranking London train stations by how easy they are to dodge fares at, boasting to his 112,000 followers that he had “bumped” 538 stations without ever being caught.
The 26-year-old, who goes by the username @itsdatguyfromends and is known online as LB, filmed himself wearing a jacket bearing a Network Rail badge while presenting his guide. “I work at train stations so know how security works,” he said, using slang for fare evasion to claim: “I’ve bumped 538 stations with no penalties so trust me.”
His rankings ranged from “Free FL” — a play on TfL, Transport for London — for stations he considered easiest to dodge, down to “just pay for your ticket lil bro” for those he deemed too risky. He advised viewers on technique, saying: “You have to be confident. Push through barriers, don’t look behind. Keep walking. If you’re shy, get intimidated by or stare at security, you’ll get caught.”
Among his specific recommendations, he warned that East Croydon was “full of” British Transport Police and described Liverpool Street as a no-go zone, saying: “These guys don’t play.” He said dodging fares at Waterloo’s Underground station was among the hardest challenges, but claimed the adjoining Waterloo East was straightforward, saying: “No one cares.” He singled out Stratford as a starting point for beginners, claiming: “Everyone and their mum has bumped Stratford. This is where you’re taught to bump.”
The videos were removed by TikTok after The Sun flagged them to the platform. A Network Rail spokesperson said: “He is not directly employed by us. The matter is under investigation and his employer will determine the most appropriate action.” A spokesperson for Transport for London said: “Fare evasion is a criminal offence that undermines investment in safe, clean and reliable public transport.”
