A Twitch streamer was struck by a car in Indiana while broadcasting his months-long walk from Philadelphia to California, with footage of the moment circulating rapidly across social media.
The streamer, known online as hmblzayy — also referred to as Minister Zay or Humble Zay — was approximately 34 days into his cross-country journey when the incident occurred. A car had stopped behind him on the road when a second vehicle struck it from behind, pushing the stationary car into the streamer. The Mazda is reported to have absorbed much of the impact, which may have prevented more serious injury.
Hmblzayy was knocked to the ground but was seen getting back to his feet before being taken to hospital for evaluation. He was later spotted wearing a back brace. No formal update on his condition or the extent of his injuries had been confirmed at the time of publication.
The walk, now into its fifth week, covers a distance of roughly 3,000 miles and is being undertaken to raise awareness and funds for building trade schools in underserved communities. The journey is described as faith-inspired, and hmblzayy has been documenting his progress — including difficult terrain and adverse weather — live on stream throughout.
Clips of the collision spread quickly across Reddit, Instagram, TikTok and X, with the post on Reddit’s r/LivestreamFail community drawing significant attention. Many online commentators noted the accident could have been considerably worse given the circumstances.
Well-wishers from across his streaming community have since posted messages of support, with many calling for a full and speedy recovery.
