Four people were treated and taken to hospital after a stabbing broke out among a group of men fighting with knives at a KFC on Bromley High Street in southeast London, with police arresting seven males in connection with the incident.
Four people have been injured in a reported stabbing on a London high street. Paramedics were called to Bromley High Street in southeast London just after 2pm on Thursday, with London Ambulance Service confirming that four patients were treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.
What the ambulance service said
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 2:19pm today (10 September) to reports of a stabbing on Bromley High Street. We sent ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and an advanced paramedic. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance. We treated four patients at the scene and took them all to hospital.”
Where and how the incident unfolded
The stabbing took place at a KFC on Bromley High Street, rather than at an unspecified location along the street. According to a police community update, officers were called to the scene at approximately 2.10pm, shortly before the ambulance service logged its own call at 2.19pm. Police say the incident involved a group of males fighting with knives.
Officers arrived within around ten minutes and quickly detained six males at the scene. The police update states that seven males have since been arrested in connection with the incident.
Extent of the injuries
Two of those involved in the fight suffered multiple stab wounds, with one described as being in a critical but stable condition. A third male suffered minor injuries. The severity of these injuries helps explain the scale of the emergency response, including the deployment of London’s Air Ambulance alongside ground crews.
Police response and scene
Large sections of Bromley High Street and the surrounding area were closed while police dealt with the incident and carried out their investigation of the scene. Witnesses reported seeing a police drone over the area, alongside a substantial emergency services presence throughout the response.
Unverified claims circulating online
It is worth noting that unverified reports have been circulating locally suggesting a higher number of people were injured, including claims that someone died as a result of the incident. These claims have not been confirmed by either the Metropolitan Police or London Ambulance Service, and should not be treated as established fact at this stage.
