A Mexican beauty influencer has died after suffering complications during a cosmetic procedure at a private clinic, according to local media. Adriana Garcia, 30, passed away on Tuesday at a clinic in Culiacán, the capital of the Mexican state of Sinaloa, according to the outlet El Universal, which cited local reports. Garcia was the mother of a six-year-old daughter and had built a substantial online following, with nearly 50,000 followers on Instagram and more than 45,000 on TikTok, sharing content focused on lifestyle, travel and beauty.
What is known about her death
According to reports, emergency efforts were made to revive Garcia after she suffered complications during the procedure, but she was pronounced dead at the clinic. The exact nature of the cosmetic procedure she is suspected to have died from has not been disclosed, and Mexican authorities have not yet confirmed her official cause of death.
Cuitlahuac Gonzalez Galindo, the Sinaloa Secretary of Health, said on Wednesday that his office did not yet have detailed information regarding the case, though an investigation had been launched, El Universal reported.
Investigation under way
The Sinaloa State Attorney General’s Office has since opened an investigation to determine whether medical negligence or malpractice played any role in Garcia’s death. Authorities are reviewing the clinic’s operating licences, medical records, and the qualifications of the staff involved in the procedure. The clinic has not publicly commented on the incident while the investigation continues.
Garcia’s body has been transferred to the State Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO), where an autopsy has been ordered to establish the precise cause of death.
