A man in his 40s has died after falling several floors inside a rooftop bar in Birmingham city centre, West Midlands Police have confirmed.
Officers were called to Colmore Row at around 6.20pm on Sunday following reports that the man had fallen within the building. He was taken to hospital but was later pronounced dead.
The venue involved is Henman & Cooper, a rooftop bar located in the heart of Birmingham’s commercial district. Police have confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious, and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We were called to Colmore Row, Birmingham city centre, at around 6.20pm yesterday after a man fell a number of floors within a building. The man, aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital but has since sadly died. Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this awful time.”
Henman & Cooper closed its doors on Sunday evening following the incident. In a post on its social media channels, the venue cited “unforeseen circumstances” without elaborating further. “We apologise and appreciate your understanding,” the statement read. “We look forward to welcoming you back soon.”
An investigation into the full circumstances of the man’s death remains ongoing, with findings to be passed to the coroner in due course.
