Viewers reacted with shock after a whispered garden conversation in which Philip, who has appeared close to Rochelle, criticised her behaviour towards another housemate.
Big Brother viewers have criticised housemate Philip after he told Lynx in a private conversation that he had “wished for her to go”, referring to Rochelle. The comments were made in Thursday’s episode, shown on 15 October, the day before the next eviction. Yasmin, Twinks and Rob face the public vote on Friday 16 October. Philip had appeared to be a close friend of Rochelle, and some fans described his remarks as “game player” behaviour.
What triggered the conversation
The housemates took part in another shopping task, with the house transformed into the inside of Big Brother’s body. The teams took on challenges to decide who would receive the luxury shopping budget, while the losing side faced basic rations.
During the task, Rochelle upset Harry, who walked out of the living area and broke down in tears in the bathroom. Housemates comforted him. The research notes say the housemates were split into red and blue blood cells, with Rob and Samuel appointed as the brains giving instructions. Rochelle criticised Harry for not taking the task seriously, and he said he was trying to enjoy himself. The argument escalated and he left, slamming a door. Rob and Lynx later offered support.
What Philip said
In a whispered conversation in the garden, Philip told Lynx: “Lynx, I have wished for her to go. So, if she f****** goes, because it’s got that way now. I haven’t got no time for her. I haven’t, I’m telling you, I’m speaking honest with you. That’s why I have time in bed, because I want to stay away from her.”
He went on: “Rochelle has said too much… And it’s funny what she kept saying to me and all. She’d say, ‘You’re my best friend in here.’ She said, ‘You’ll never turn on me, will you? Never turn on me.’ She kept saying that to me. She’s got too f****** much to say.”
Lynx replied: “And it’s never-ending. And like you make such a pure soul like Harry get like that today, and then you come in the bathroom and make it about you. It’s just sometimes you just have to think about what you say.”
Philip continued: “See, she’s had a very privileged [life] from a child. I think she’s been spoiled, and I think she’s got away with everything. Everything she wants, she got. She never wants to listen about you, about your life, about your things. And do you know what? I’m not really interested and I don’t want to tell her.”
Lynx said a comment by Sam when giving his reason for voting for her had stuck with him: “All you talk about is me, me, me.” Philip said Sam was “f****** right”, adding: “This is what she’s like. And come on, Lynx, she’s got on everyone’s [nerves]. She has. The ones [that have] gone and the ones [that are] here, she f****** has.”
Viewers’ reaction
Many viewers posted their shock on X. “Not a good look,” one wrote. Another said: “Wow can’t believe Philip’s now turning on Rochelle. I sense a downfall coming.” A third wrote: “Not Philip showing his true colours after that chat about Rochelle!”
Another viewer said: “Philip is giving game player, sorry not sorry.” One more commented: “Philip turning on his ‘best friend’ is not what I expected.”
Some viewers on Reddit have questioned Philip’s loyalty to Rochelle for more than a week, pointing out that he had already nominated her earlier in the series. Others say his latest remarks were unsurprising, given the pair’s repeated disagreements. Opinion is divided on whether he is being strategic or has simply become frustrated. His earlier nomination does not prove he is manipulating other contestants.
Rochelle and Philip had also argued earlier this week, after she challenged him over comments he allegedly made to newcomer Twinks. He accused her of suggesting he was lying and walked away. That row followed earlier tension over her repeatedly questioning him about his attraction to other housemates. Both housemates nominated Rob and Twinks on Wednesday, and neither faces this week’s public vote. Some viewers have accused them of calculated decisions, while others say Yasmin emerged as a compromise. These are viewers’ interpretations, not proof of co-ordination. There is no sign that either will receive a formal warning.
Alleged unaired exchange
The Sun reported that ITV did not broadcast a conversation in which Rochelle allegedly used racially offensive language while discussing a Black man. Lynx reportedly challenged the wording, and Rochelle apologised, with Lynx accepting she had not meant offence. This account rests on newspaper reporting, and ITV has not confirmed the details.
According to published figures, 493 Ofcom complaints concerned an earlier confrontation between Rochelle and former housemate Johanne Cade. A separate episode involving the two reportedly drew more than 1,100 complaints. The figures should not be added together, as reporting periods and categories may overlap. A complaint does not mean broadcasting rules were broken.
Twinks’s concerns
Before the eviction, Twinks, whose real name is Lucinda Burnett, became emotional while talking to Catrin, Rob and Samuel. The 36-year-old fashion stylist reportedly said she feared that housemates disliked her and had let down people she wanted to support. She said friendships mattered particularly to her because she lacks a strong family support network.
