Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s teenage daughter North West has released a horror-themed music video for her track “Aishite,” exploring themes of betrayal and mistrust, days after abruptly cancelling her debut concert tour without explanation.
North West, the 13-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, released a horror-inspired music video on Thursday for her new track “Aishite,” in which she sings about feelings of betrayal and being used. Directed by Ty Akimoto, the video sees the teenager wandering the halls of an abandoned school and an arcade, incorporating surreal visual effects throughout. The song appears on her debut EP, N0rth4evr, and its release comes just days after North cancelled her first planned concert tour at short notice.
The song and video
“Aishite,” which translates from Japanese as “love me,” sees North repeat the phrase throughout the track as she explores themes of betrayal, isolation and mistrust. In the opening verse, she sings: “Ayy, ain’t nobody finna save me / Ayy, and it’s drivin’ me crazy (Crazy) / Why can’t I escape? ‘Cause they chase me (They chase me) / Just love me, everyone betrays me.”
She continues in a later verse: “I’m seein’ blood daily (Daily) / What? And it’s drivin’ me crazy (Crazy) / Yeah, can’t escape ’cause they chase me.” Further lyrics touch on similar themes of distrust: “She pretend, they ain’t usin’ me again (What?) / Can’t be no one’s friend, I can’t let nobody in,” before adding, “Can’t depend on anyone, the sufferin’ won’t end.” Elsewhere in the track, she references her piercings, singing: “Always got some piercings on me, this is not a trend.” North has not publicly said whether the lyrics reflect personal experience.
The video itself leans into a horror aesthetic, opening in a gloomy, abandoned school building where North is shown walking the corridors with neon blue pigtails. At one point, the camera moves in close as she turns to reveal a face without visible eyes, nose or mouth, alongside a black grill on her teeth. The clip continues with rapid cuts between school and arcade settings before ending on a white title screen as the track concludes.
Tour cancelled at short notice
The video’s release follows the cancellation of North’s debut concert tour, which had been due to begin this week. North had been preparing to co-headline the 14-date Kimokawaii Tour alongside 21-year-old rapper Molly Santana, promoting her debut album N0rth4evr, with the tour originally scheduled to kick off on 6 August.
Announcing the cancellation on her Instagram Stories, North told fans: “I was really excited to go on tour w Molly Santana sadly it isn’t happening anymore. But I have something special for u guys see ya soon.” No reason was given for the cancellation.
North’s growing music career
North has increasingly pursued music and fashion in recent years, making high-profile appearances alongside her parents and performing alongside her father. She has previously featured on songs with Kanye West, including “Talking / Once Again” from his and Ty Dolla $ign’s Vultures project, meaning “Aishite” forms part of a broader, developing solo music career for the teenager.
North has also built a substantial social media following and has drawn attention for her interests in fashion, music, Japanese culture and anime, all of which are reflected in the styling and visuals of her latest video. Kim Kardashian has previously voiced public support for her daughter’s creative pursuits, while Kanye West has spoken on a number of occasions about encouraging North’s interest in music and performance.
