Millie Mackintosh has shared an emotional video of herself moving into a new rental home following her split from husband Hugo Taylor, telling followers she is “finding a bit of strength in the chaos” as she begins a new chapter documented candidly on Instagram, boxes and all.
Millie Mackintosh broke down in tears as she moved into her new rental home, following her split from husband Hugo Taylor. The former Made In Chelsea star, 37, shared a video on Instagram showing herself unboxing belongings and assembling flat-pack furniture in her new property, during which she was unable to hold back tears while sitting on the wooden floor. Mackintosh told followers she is “finding a bit of strength in the chaos” as she begins a “new chapter” following the end of her marriage.
Setting up a new home
Sharing the footage, which she said had been filmed a couple of weeks earlier while preparing the house before officially moving in, Mackintosh wrote: “Box after box, room after room, there’s something oddly satisfying about putting together flat pack furniture with your own two hands. Especially when you don’t even own a screwdriver.” She added: “New chapter, new walls, and somehow finding a bit of strength in the chaos of it all.”
Mackintosh also credited a close friend with helping her secure the property, telling her followers she had received significant support during the process. “Since moving in, lots of you have asked me how I found the house I’m renting. Honestly… I had so much help,” she wrote. “My wonderful friend @lucie.hirst held my hand through the whole process. She sources off-market places, handled the viewings and agents, and did all the tricky admin bits and bobs. It made a stressful time so much less complicated and it’s really starting to feel like home.”
A ‘healing’ moving day
The latest post follows an earlier update last month, in which Mackintosh revealed she had officially moved out of the marital home she had shared with Taylor, describing the process as “healing.” At the time, she wrote: “Moving day. Nervous, excited, everything all at once. And so it begins. New postcode, new front door, new chapter written entirely on my own terms this time.”
Reflecting on the end of her marriage, she added: “Divorce isn’t the ending I imagined for myself, but this house, this next bit feels like proof that new beginnings really can be beautiful even when they start with cardboard boxes and lots of uncertainty.”
Sharing images of empty rooms and packed boxes, Mackintosh continued to document the reality of the move rather than presenting a polished image, writing: “This is what starting again actually looks like. Not glamorous, not perfectly styled, just honest, and mine. I’ve learned more about myself in this in-between than I have in years.” She went on: “Every room a little emptier today, and me a little lighter for it. Funny how a house holds so much of you without you ever realising, until you have to carry it all out the door.”
Describing the gradual process of making the space her own, she added: “Slowly, slowly it starts to look like somewhere new. One chair at a time, one plant at a time, building a home that’s entirely mine feels like its own kind of healing.”
Mackintosh also admitted she had struggled to put the experience into words. “I’ve put off writing this caption for a few days because I wasn’t quite sure how to sum it all up,” she said. “This move has been so many things at once, exciting, overwhelming, sad, hopeful, all wrapped into one very long day surrounded by boxes. Starting again somewhere new has taught me more about who I am than I expected.” She concluded: “Turns out you can grieve a chapter and be genuinely excited for the next one at the same time.”
Background on the split
Mackintosh and Taylor, both former stars of Made In Chelsea, announced their separation in 2026 after more than six years of marriage. The couple married in June 2018 at Whithurst Park in West Sussex, with several of their former Made In Chelsea co-stars among the wedding guests. They share two daughters, Sienna and Aurelia, and have both said they remain committed to co-parenting following the split.
Mackintosh first found fame on Made In Chelsea in 2011 and has since built a career as a television personality, author and influencer, regularly sharing updates about family life, wellness and mental health with her followers. Taylor has largely kept a lower public profile in recent years, focusing on business ventures while continuing to co-parent the couple’s daughters.
