British Transport Police have released CCTV images of two men they want to identify after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by buskers travelling on the Elizabeth Line.
The incident occurred at around 11pm on Saturday 6 June, when a group of buskers boarded an eastbound service at Whitechapel station in east London. During the journey, two men from the group are alleged to have sexually assaulted a woman before the train reached Stratford, where the suspects got off.
In a statement, BTP said: “At just before 11pm on Saturday 6 June, a group of buskers boarded an eastbound service at Whitechapel station. During the journey, two men from the group sexually assaulted a woman. They then got off the train at the next stop – Stratford station. Detectives believe the men in the images may have information that will assist their ongoing investigation.”
The force has urged anyone who recognises the men, or who witnessed the alleged assault, to come forward by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 860 of 6 June.
The appeal comes just days after police released a separate CCTV image in the hunt for a man following an alleged sexual assault at the Simply Pleasure Adult Store in Leeds, West Yorkshire. That incident is reported to have taken place between 7.30pm and 8pm on 23 March, with West Yorkshire Police appealing for anyone with information, or who recognises the man pictured, to come forward.
