Detectives investigating a city centre sexual assault have issued photographs of four individuals they urgently need to identify following a woman’s rape in Bristol during the early hours of Sunday morning.
Avon and Somerset Police launched a major investigation after the victim was attacked in the Assembly Rooms Lane area at approximately 3.05am on 29 March, with officers arriving at the scene within eight minutes of the initial report and immediately transporting her to a place of safety.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Almond confirmed substantial investigative activity has occurred since Sunday including fast-track forensic analysis and comprehensive security footage examination, with CCTV enquiries establishing the four men were present in the city centre that night before travelling towards the eastern district between 3.30am and 4am.
“The first officers attended the scene within eight minutes of this rape offence being reported to us and helped to take the victim to a place of safety,” DCI Almond stated. “Her welfare has been of paramount importance to us. We will ensure she has the support she needs, not only now, but in the days and weeks ahead.”
The victim provided initial descriptions characterising the suspects as Asian males aged in their twenties or thirties, though investigators are keen to identify the four men pictured to either eliminate them from enquiries or establish their involvement.
“They were not on the scene when police arrived, but were seen in the city centre on the night in question,” DCI Almond explained, appealing for public assistance identifying the individuals captured on surveillance systems.
Authorities have implemented enhanced high-visibility patrols throughout Bristol city centre this week with operations continuing across the bank holiday weekend to reassure residents and visitors whilst maintaining investigative momentum.
The Assembly Rooms Lane location where the attack occurred has been subject to forensic examination as investigators pursue multiple lines of enquiry attempting to piece together the victim’s movements and identify those responsible for the sexual assault.
DCI Almond emphasised that whilst numerous investigative strands are being followed, identifying the four men remains crucial to progressing the case, urging anyone who recognises them or possesses information about their identities to contact police immediately.
The incident has sent shockwaves through Bristol’s nightlife community, with the brutal nature of the attack and its city centre location during peak weekend hours raising concerns about safety in the area.
