Jack Kay, the Newcastle-born internet sensation known as the Ibiza Final Boss, was reportedly targeted by four masked men carrying weapons at a pub in Ryton, Tyne and Wear, last Friday evening, with Northumbria Police now appealing for witnesses.
The 26-year-old former construction worker, who shot to global fame after being filmed dancing at Wayne Lineker’s O Beach Club in Ibiza last August, was inside The Runhead bar and grill on Holborn Lane when the incident unfolded at around 5.45pm. According to an eyewitness, four masked individuals entered the premises armed with weapons, grabbed Kay and threw him across the bar before fleeing. He sustained minor injuries in the assault.
Northumbria Police confirmed they responded to a report of a disturbance and described it as four men chasing another man into the premises before assaulting him. Officers attended but found none of the men present on arrival, including the victim. The force said those involved were believed to be known to one another and stated there was no wider risk to the public. An investigation into the alleged affray is ongoing.
North East Ambulance Service said it was called to the scene shortly before 6pm but was stood down after its assistance was not required.
Kay’s rapid rise from obscurity to celebrity has been well documented. His distinctive bowl cut hairstyle, chunky gold chain and designer sunglasses made him an overnight sensation when footage of him dancing went viral globally. He subsequently revealed in a documentary that he had earned £800,000 within six weeks of the clip spreading online, with a further £200,000 added since.
The windfalls have transformed his lifestyle considerably. He now drives a £55,000 Range Rover SVR bearing the personalised plate BOSS BZA, charges £2,000 per sponsored Instagram post, and commands £60,000 a day for club appearances. Among his engagements, he signed a five-figure deal with Boohoo Man, performed at Creamfields festival in Cheshire, was flown back to Ibiza by private jet and collaborated with London musician Carnao Beats on a techno track released on Spotify.
Northumbria Police are asking anyone with information about Friday’s incident to come forward.
