A fight between students at Fir Vale Academy in Sheffield sent two teachers to hospital with a third fainting during the incident, according to parents who described the scene as “chaos” when they collected children from school.
South Yorkshire Police confirmed officers were called shortly after midday on Thursday 26 February to reports of a disturbance at the Owler Lane secondary school. A spokesman stated: “It is reported a fight broke out between a number of students. Officers are at the scene and are supporting school staff in the response.”
Seven police cars were parked outside the school during the emergency response. However, a Yorkshire Ambulance Service spokesman said they were “not aware” of any incidents, raising questions about how the injured teachers were transported to hospital.
One Facebook commenter stated: “Just picked my son up from this school and it was chaos.” Parents reported the incident related to a “school fight” with two teachers requiring hospital treatment whilst another member of staff fainted during the disturbance.
Police urged anyone with information to report online or call 101, quoting incident number 303 of 26 February 2026. The force stated further updates would be communicated via their website or official social media channels.
The Academy, which accepts approximately 1,000 pupils from the local area, was formed in 2012 as a converted Academy School. The previous Fir Vale School was opened in 1998 and formally opened in 2004 by Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
Traffic disruption affected roads around Owler Lane as officers maintained a presence at the secondary school. South Yorkshire Police confirmed they were supporting school staff in their response to the incident.
The discrepancy between parent reports of teachers being hospitalised and Yorkshire Ambulance Service stating they were unaware of incidents has not been explained by authorities. No information about the condition of the hospitalised teachers or details about the staff member who fainted has been released.
