Mums praise Build-a-Bear’s ‘cute keepsake’ for lockdown birthdays

A mum has discovered that children who celebrated their birthdays in lockdown can get their hands on a Build-a-Bear toy for a fraction of the price.

The Count your Candles deal sees you pay the same amount of money for your child’s bear as there are candles on the cake for their birthday.

For example, if your child is turning three, you would pay £3.

But children who would have celebrated their birthdays during the coronavirus lockdown would have gone without.

Well now a mum has revealed that all of those who missed out on the offer, can still take advantage of it.

The deal is available to all Bonus Club Members – which is free and easy to join – and can be redeemed until September 30 in any re-opened store.

Simply mention the offer to a member of staff, and you’re good to go.

The website said: “The Count Your Candles promotion is currently available in stores that are open for those who missed their birthday celebration in March, April, May, June, July, August, and September.”

The mum shared the deal to Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, after receiving a whopping £13 off a bear.

She said: “I thought I would share this for anyone who didn’t know…

“If your little one had a birthday in lockdown you can go to build a bear and get a birthday bear for the same price as your child’s age!

“My daughters cost me just £1 instead of £14! (I chose to add the T-shirt and happy birthday tune inside for extra but you don’t have to but it still cost just £8 all in with those extras).

“There are 2 different types of bear to choose from.

“I thought I’d share as it’s a great deal and a cute keepsake with memories behind it!”

Since the money-saving tip was posted, it has received 2,800 likes and approximately the same number of comments.

One person said: “That’s great my daughter was 2 in April, and we were isolating then. Have to see if it’s still available.”

Another added: “That is great to know! Thanks for sharing.”

A third said: “Ooo I will go have a look.”

And: “And such a cute smiley bear! Thanks for letting us all know!” said a fourth.
