A man who messaged his wife pretending to be her male celebrity crush has been left “incredibly sad” after things took an unexpected turn.
The 36-year-old explained that he and his wife, 37, were jokingly discussing their celebrity crushes and “hall pass” list – permission from your significant other to date a particular famous face – his being singer Beyoncé.
His wife on the other hand confessed her crush was actor Jason Mantzoukas, who happened to have attended the same college as her in Vermont, but ten years apart.
But when she told him that she was going to try and meet him at a reunion event he was taken aback.
So he decided to make a fake email address acting as her college admin telling her that she had been selected as part of a new programme where former pupils were asked to mentor each other, hers being Jason with which she was “thrilled.”
But after exchanging messages back and forth he said: “I was incredibly sad to see that it got flirtatious fast.”
Admitting that his wife isn’t “really sexually active” with him, lust got the better of him and he started sending her headless nude photos from a guy he found on Google, and she started sending X-rated snaps in return.
He said: “She’s kind of having an affair.”
But in a strange turn of events, the man revealed he enjoyed it as said he hasn’t seen his wife naked in months outside of the bathroom.
He concluded his post by asking Reddit users whether it was necessary for him to confess to his wife about the prank, and how long he could go on pretending to be Jason.
The post was also shared on the @redditships Twitter page, receiving quite the response.
One person said: “Next time you’re unhappy in your relationship, talk to your partner, don’t pretend to be comedic actor, writer, and podcaster Jason Mantzoukas.”
Another joked: “You’ve betrayed both your wife and national treasure Jason Mantzoukas.”
Whereas a third wondered: “I don’t know if I should be focusing more on the cheating or the catfishing.”
And: “I don’t understand why you did this and honestly your kinda getting what you deserve.
“She likely wouldn’t have ever spoken to Jason. Also Is it really cheating if it’s someone she think she has a hall pass for?” questioned a fourth.
But a few people were quick to question the authenticity of the story, as one said: “I’m certain this is a fake post, but glad to see Twitter is becoming enlightened about how oddly attractive Jason Mantzoukas is. I can’t explain it, the guy is a snack.”
And another wrote: “The intense stupidity of this situation screams fake to me.”
