An intensive manhunt continues across Chicago following the fatal beating of a 25-year-old expectant father outside an Avondale neighbourhood bar, with four suspects captured on surveillance footage evading capture for two weeks despite police appeals.
Alexander “Xander” Kazanowski suffered fatal blunt force trauma during an early-morning attack on 25 March after being discovered unresponsive outside Tune-Up bar around 3.20am, with Cook County Crime Stoppers confirming injuries consistent with a deliberate beating.
Chicago Police Department released security camera footage Tuesday showing three African-American males and one Asian female entering the establishment on the fatal night, though investigators have not disclosed whether the recording predates or follows the alleged assault.

The Illinois-based model and entrepreneur—who specialised in wedding and bridal photography whilst founding household services company Wurk—had allegedly been asked to leave the tavern after making several comments according to WGN-TV reports.
Following his ejection, Kazanowski exchanged words with individuals outside before the confrontation escalated into the violence that left him critically injured and ultimately claimed his life.
His partner Tori posted a devastating Instagram Story tribute: “To my favorite pool playing, antique thrifting suit wearing, weiner man. Our lives won’t be the same without you,” alongside photographs of the couple in wedding attire.
The tragedy leaves behind Tori, their daughter Thea, and their unborn son John—whom they had already named before Kazanowski’s death—alongside his parents, siblings and extended family.
His family characterised him as a modern Renaissance man possessing “unrelenting entrepreneurial spirit” and “natural charisma that enlivened every room he entered” in heartbreaking obituary statements.
“Xander lived life at full speed and with a rare intensity. While his time with us was cut far too short, he lived more in his twenty-five years than many do in a lifetime,” they wrote, describing the loss as leaving their “hearts absolutely shattered.”
The family praised Kazanowski’s final act of organ donation as “a perfect expression of his generous heart,” revealing he “saved multiple lives and helped countless others move closer to the miracle of a second chance” through the donations.
“No description could possibly do justice to Xander’s character. He possessed a natural charisma that enlivened every room he entered. Truly one of a kind, he was a rare example of a man who had the resolve to carve his own path and live entirely on his own terms,” his obituary stated.

Authorities continue appealing for information regarding the four persons of interest whose identities remain unknown despite surveillance footage documenting their presence at Tune-Up during the fatal night.
