Captain Tom Moore’s life to be celebrated with special April 30 event

An EVENT of Captain Sir Tom Moore’s life is set to occur on April 30 – on what would have been his 101st birthday.

The hero’s daughter Hannah Ingram-Moore stated the event is to “celebrate his generosity of spirit, the hope and pleasure he brought to millions and his sense of fun”.

She did not disclose complete details of the event but asked, in a post on her daddy’s main Twitter account, that people save the date.

Sir Tom recorded the hearts of the nation with his fundraising efforts during the first coronavirus lockdown when he walked 100 laps of his Bedfordshire garden prior to his 100th birthday in 2015, raising more than ₤ 32 million for the NHS.

The Second World War veteran passed away at Bedford Healthcare facility on February 2 after checking favorable for Covid-19.

In a declaration published on her dad’s official Twitter account, she stated: “I want to state an enormous thank you for the continuing support and compassion we’ve been shown over the last couple of weeks.

” It is assisting us through a very tough duration.

” On Saturday we had the ability to give my father a fitting send-off adhering to his dreams in every way.

” We played music he loved, spoke words that filled us with delight and the addition of complete military honours would have had him rupturing with pride.”

She added: “A lot of you have asked what will be done to honor the life and spirit of my father Captain Tom and we’ve had some amazing recommendations.

” The Captain Tom Structure will be celebrating his life on what would have been his 101st birthday.

” We will make certain it is an event that everybody – in the UK and around the world – can get involved in and it will genuinely commemorate his kindness of spirit, the hope and delight he brought to millions and his sense of enjoyable.”

His funeral was hung on Saturday in Bedford, with his coffin reached the crematorium by soldiers from the Yorkshire Regiment and a Second World War-era C-47 Dakota carrying out a flypast.

The war veteran was put to rest at the “lovely” service.

The NHS fundraising hero got his own guard of honour and a magnificent RAF flypast after he died earlier this month.

Captain Tom’s family paid heartbreaking tributes to the grandad who ended up being known as a “beacon of life and hope for the world” during the pandemic.

Six soldiers from the veteran’s regiment brought his coffin – curtained in a Union Jack flag – into Bedford crematorium for a family service Captain Tom prepared himself.

Both of the hero’s children spoke at the service, while his grandchildren check out touching poems in honour of their grandfather.

Sir Tom’s child Lucy Teixeira fought back tears as she said her dad “strolled his way into the nation’s hearts”.

She stated: “Daddy, you would always inform us ‘best foot forward’, and real to your word, that’s just what you did last year, raising a fortune for the NHS and walking your method into the country’s hearts.”

Her voice broke as she included: “I am so proud of you – what you have attained, your whole life and particularly in the in 2015.

” You might be gone but your message and your spirit lives on.”

Child Lucy Ingram-Moore wept as she mentioned her life with her dad, who moved in with her after her mother’s death.

” The loss of you is a dull physical pains for me, but the power of love you left us with allows us to remain strong,” she stated.

” Our relationship can not be broken by death.
